My Anatolia soap is as exotic and rich as its name implies. I developed a perennial fascination with Turkey after reading Louis de Bernieres' novel "Birds Without Wings". This soap evokes the landscape and fragrances of that beautiful land: predominant notes of cypress essential oil (which is earthy and woodsy, yet surprisingly floral!) and juicy orange essential oil, with herbaceous rosemary and fir needle to round it out. Cleansing sea clay lends this soap its lovely pistachio color, with ground cardamom for exfoliation and to complete the theme!

I formulated this soap with a high olive oil content to create a gentle, moisturizing bar. It contains coconut and sustainable palm oil for bubbly lather, and rice bran oil for its skin-loving properties. Cocoa butter finishes off this luxurious soap, which also contains vitamin E and naturally-occurring glycerin.
Each hand-cut bar weighs at least 5 ounces. I make this soap in small batches, and cut each bar individually. Please note you will receive a similar bar of soap to the one pictured; a little variation in appearance may occur due to the nature of the product. That's the wonderful thing about hand-crafting versus mass manufacturing: the mark of the maker!
Your soap will arrive packaged as pictured, with ingredients listed on the back. I wrap each bar in tissue paper to protect it on its journey.
Extend the life of your soap by keeping it dry between uses and storing it away from your shower's spray. A draining soap dish is your friend!

*Sodium hydroxide is necessary to make soap, but rest assured that none remains in the finished product. When you add a solution of sodium hydroxide to oils, all precisely measured, a chemical process called saponification occurs. The products of saponification are soap and glycerin. Ok, chemistry class dismissed!
