Trio of Colorful Ceramic Hand painted Tonala Pottery Doves Birds from Mexico
A bright, bold and fun set of mexican pottery doves. These birds are somewhat unusual, as the iconic mexican doves are usually decorated in more muted, earthy glazes and a satiny burnished finish. These birds, which feature the typical simply modern form, are painted in very bright hues and appear to be painted post-kiln, and not glazed/fired.
This small blue dove/bird is decorated in an unusual geometric design, with green, white, black, yellow and gold lines and spots and measures about 4" long x 3" high x 2 1/8" wide. It is in very good vintage condition, with some small surface marks and small areas of paint loss visible on close inspection. Signed Mexico on the bottom.
The gray dove/bird features the iconic tonala floral pattern in bright yellow, pink, green, gold and black. It measures about 5" long x 3 3/4" high x 2 3/4" wide and is in very good vintage condition, with one small chip on the insdie of one foot (which is difficult to see when the dove is sitting on a counter/shelf) and some small surface marks visible on close inspection
The orange bird also features the typical flower motif, with a black, pink, blue and gold pattern. It is in very good vintage condition, with no chips or cracks and measures approximately 6" long x 4" tall x 2 3/4" wide. It is marked Mexico.
